President
Lauren Klaus

My name is Lauren, and I’m the current president of the Innovative Global Solutions (IGS) Enterprise. I’m a fourth year electrical engineering major with a concentration in environmental applications. I joined IGS on the Infant Incubator project in Fall 2025 after hearing about all of the hands-on and team-based skills I’d be able to develop. It’s been such an honor getting to work on a multidisciplinary team with my talented peers, united with the common goal of creating something that can help others. Outside of IGS, I’m a resident assistant on campus, a lab assistant for the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department, and I’m involved in undergraduate research. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, crafting, and spontaneous adventures!
Vice President
Elana LaGuire

My name is Elana LaGuire, I am a fourth year Electrical Engineering major, and I am the current Vice President of IGS!I have been involved with IGS since Fall 2025 on the Infant Incubator project, as a member of the Environmental sub-team. Being a part of IGS has improved both my technical skills and teamwork skills, and it has been so impactful to work on a meaningful and important project with my fellow peers. This past summer, I was a Reliability Planning Intern at ITC, and before that, I’ve worked as an Electrician’s Apprentice. Outside of IGS, I am a Lab Assistant for the ECE Department here at Tech, and in my free time I enjoy reading, playing the piano, and sewing.
Infant Incubator Team Lead
Nate Anderson

Hi! My name is Nate Anderson, and I am a senior electrical engineering student with a biomedical engineering focus. I am the Infant Incubator team lead, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help contribute to this project in that capacity. During the school year, I am a technical writer for The Bridge Newsletter, in coordination with Michigan Tech, where I work to provide an overview of the latest technologies and engineering innovations within transportation. Outside of work, school, and enterprise, I work on mini-projects of my own, ranging from solar rechargeable systems to baking. I also like to hike around campus on the weekends, winding down with a great book in the evening! This summer, I will be working as a Quality Engineering Intern within Boston Scientific’s implantable device office in Minnesota.
MTEC Team Lead
Ella Merklein

Hello! I’m Ella Merklein, team lead for the Medical Tent Environmental Control (MTEC) Team within the Innovative Global Solutions (IGS) Enterprise. As a fifth-year Biomedical Engineering student with a minor in Pre-Health, I have been part of this enterprise for the past five semesters, contributing to projects focused on infant incubators and medical tent environments. My work has specialized in electrical components, user-interface design, and ideation. Over the past two summers, I further refined my technical expertise, research skills, and teamwork abilities through internships at ABLE Medical Devices and a co-op at American Orthodontics. With a passion for the outdoors and a commitment to advancing the medical field, I’m inspired by the challenges of delivering effective healthcare in remote or emergency environments. My work combines this understanding with technical skills to create solutions that improve conditions for healthcare professionals and their patients.
